Renovation Portfolio: Freedom Park Cottage (2002-2004)

We moved to Charlotte in 2002, purchasing this adorable cottage near Freedom Park.  We LOVED the street, great neighbors, so close to Dilworth, local parks, excellent schools, etc.  We did quite a bit of renovation to the house (expanded a 1960's upstairs addition, the kitchen, the baths, finished the basement, backyard landscaping, etc), although the current owners have finished a very thorough redo in the past year and I can't wait to see what they've done!

This is one renovation that I wished we had done more extensively.  The downside to trying to live in it while renovating.  I got my GC license AFTER doing this house.

AFTER - although not a good angle for that dormer.  I had another GC do that - and was not impressed.  Thankfully the new owners redid it completely.

The original dining room, I don't have a great after photo here - but this wall paper was HORRIBLE.

Renovation Portfolio: 1950's Ranch to 1 1/2 story Cottage (2004-2007)

This house was purchased in 2004.  It had been in the same family since it was built as a custom home in 1950.  The house was three bedroom, two bath, with a formal living room, dining room, and sunken den.  There were two large stone fireplaces.  We added a second story (with a steeply pitched roof) to the house, hoping it would help the house blend in with the neighborhood of 1940's one and one half story cottages.

Renovation Portfolio: Compact Breckenridge Ski Condo (2006-2008)

In 2006, we purchased a small two bedroom, two bath ski condo in Breckenridge.  It was a two story end unit, with great mountain views, just a short walk to the lift and you could ski right to the back door.  I loved it best in the summer time, such amazing weather in Breck, warm sunny days, cool nights... it's blissful.  We sold in May 2008.

We couldn't run gas for a fireplace, so the electric fireplace was the best we could do... better than nothing!
